STORMSURF Hi-Res Regional Buoy Roundup - Hawaii

Created: Mon 02/27/2017 09:47Z           Scale: Winter

Notes: Buoys are listed from outside to inside, north to south. So buoy 46006 is 600 nmiles off the coast, 46005, 46002 and 46059 about 300 nmiles out and the rest are generally 20 nmiles off the coast or less. The color bar denotes estimated surf sizes. Outer buoy surf sizes do not account for swell decay as they propagate towards the coast and therefore should be reduced respective to the target break of interest. Color bars are set on 2 scales: Summer (May 1 - Aug 31) or Winter. Summer scale is green (less than 5 ft), red (5-10 ft) and black 10+ ft. The winter scale is green (less than 10 ft), red (10-20 ft) and black 20+ ft. Southern CA is always set on the summer scale. The symbol just left of the color bar denotes surf size trend (+ = rising, - = falling, ~ = steady). Current size is compared to the average of the last 5 readings (over 2.5 hrs for CDIP or 5 hrs for NOAA buoys). If the current size is greater or less than 12.5% of the average, the indicator is updated accordingly. Click buoy number to view details of previous readings. CDIP buoys (like 094) update every 1/2 hour, NOAA buoys (like 46059) every hour. This report updates 4 times per hour.
